delusions of grandeur
PRIMPING PRETTY
it’s weird that i don’t feel insecure around pretty women (the ones who spends more time shopping, growing their hair long, grooming and blabbering), but felt greatly insecure over street-smart women who can do kickass multimedia. i think i’m turning into a feminist geek. *shudder*
THE PINAY STEREOTYPE
i saw an ad congress advertisement on tv the other night. there’s this girl frolicking inside a mall, making men swoon at the sight of her dark long tresses. suddenly she was screaming her head off while something pulled her by the hair, everybody was baffled and too stunned to react. at the end of the commercial, you can see the girl saying her last prayers infront of a priest before her long shiny hair will be cut. *heh*
what is it with long black hair? heck, there’s even shampoo available in the market that can enhance hair growth! i mean, wouldn’t it be a boring society if most of the women wear their hair long and straight? whatever happened to variety and artistic individuality?
do most men love feasting their eyes on long haired women? if so, do women grow their hair long and straight so they could please or entice the male specie? my goodness, if the hypothesis is true..
i strongly believe that pinays are exotically pretty in their own way, that there’s no need to conform to the stereotypes of this society. but then again, maybe it’s the dark long tresses that makes a pinay exotic??

personally, i like the long tresses, but i also like the hmm…. how do you call that, face length hair? which partially covers the face with long bangs, also like boyish cuts on cute girls. hehe.
bec if u had short hair, ud be a man. especially if no boobs.
haha.. hindi naman cguro ganun ka-androgynous ang tao.
If you give me just two seconds to think, I’d guess that it’s because long hairs are harder to maintain… i dunno, im a guy, hehe :P
i don’t even know why filo women are epitomized by “long black flowing hair” when most filos don’t even have black hair.
deck, long hair is actually easier to maintain, just pull it back in a ponytail and you’re done for the day.
look at the new haircut of natalie portman. bald and unappealing
Mauen - really? I found it harder to maintain long hair, but whatever you say, hehe :P
Anyhoo, it never occured to me that fil women don’t have black hair… you think is a marketing thing? hehe, I saw some marketing strategy in china showing women with hairless armpits, because guess what… pretty as some women are in china…
amazing how some people define beauty. true, the physical does matter, but what’s inside matters just as much, if not more, than what’s outside. if you take care of what’s within, it will reflect on how you look. ^_^
as for streetsmart women who do kick-ass multimedia….haha! tin, ayan kse, we kept making fun of someone in college who looked geekish. look where we are now… :D
i think what the market is trying to sell is the “sosy & kikay” look. it’s the typical fair complexion, long salon-treated hair and coo english that captured the eyes of the masses. it’s their standard of beauty. personally, i think idolizing that kind of look magnifies a person’s insecurity. what’s wrong with curly, wavy or short hair? and heck, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being morena, too dark or too pale.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder, indeed, but that depends on how you define beauty. is it simply skin deep? or does it include the beauty that emanates from within? what’s a pretty face without a good head? :P
@deck unless you want “balik bounce bounce” hair and constant salon treatment, it’s not that hard to maintain long hair. langya, ang mahal pa naman sa salong pag long hair! :D and yeah, those ladies from china better take care of those unwanted pit bushes. they’re even more unappealing than portman’s bald-do *heh*
@yagi haha!! lam mo, the feeling you get when you “lait” is pricless. our “lait” subjects never fail to entertain us during our low and dull college moments hehe, la na, we’re plain evil lang talaga.
if beauty is skin deep, dang, lots of people here, men and women alike, are gonna need SKIN GRAFTS. >:)
