secrets of quezon province: villa escudero & kusina salud

February 14th, 2006

we never had “food trip” in mind when we went to villa escudero, but the food and experience was so good that we decide to stuff ourselves full :D villa escudero is located at the quezon and san pablo border, about 2.5 hours drive from manila if you leave early. (WARNING: post contain lots of photos)

for a fee of P800, you can:
1) go river rafting
2) have buffet lunch AT the waterfalls
3) tour the museum
4) get a short carabao ride to the resort proper
5) swim
6) watch some cultural shows (weekends & holidays only)

villa escudero

most of their structures were built with high ceiling adorned with native chandelier. the high ceiling might be the reason why it’s very cool inside albeit the warm weather.MUSEUM

villa escudero

even though this looks like a church, i don’t think they’re having mass here. the place is just full of religious relics and several archaeological finds. we were not supposed to take pictures, but since nobody was watching us, we decided to take a few stolen shots.

TO THE RESORT

owner’s house. trespassers will be shot.

you’d be riding this and wonder how a fat carabao can pull all of you effortlessly.

there are several creepy looking statues all over the hacienda, but i don’t think this belonged here.

THE LAKE

we were complaining why we weren’t able to catch tilapia. now we know why.

WATERFALL BUFFET

yep, take off your shoes and eat with your feet soaked in cool water. it is pretty slippery, tho.

KUSINA SALUD

after spending the whole day at villa escudero, we decided to have dinner at kusina salud which was located 10 mins away. i would highly recommend this place– the ambiance is very native with a touch of other asian artifacts, and the food is affordably yummy!

some bangus dish. i never liked eggplants, but after having tasted this, i think i’d reconsider.

squid salad. yummy!!

ah, chicken teriyaki… mmm mmmm mmmmm!

    ei tin!

wow…wish me and ken traveled and went to villa escudero. didn’t know it was so pretty. and the way an you described the food, parang ansarap.

    saan na napunta ang diet?

anong cam pala gamit mo? i love the pics of the flowers, specially the lotus one. how do you do that in a digicam with just focusing on the subject and making the background blurry? or did you photoshop on it?

hehe, ngayon lang uli ako nakawala sa hawla! kaya kain lang ng kain!

i used fuji finepix s5100, tulad nung dati. for the flower shots, mejo malayo kasi mga yan.. but thanks to fuji’s 10x zoom, it’s quiet possible to get a good shot at them.

zoom lang yan, plus macro para ma-blur yung likod hehe. i don’t know kung tama yung ginagawa ko, but i liked the effect. and nope, no photoshop.. resize lang.
