when we were little, my dad does not usually approve when we watch local films. he says we get nothing out of crime, sex and vengeance in those films. there were few notable pinoy films, but never sold as much as the crappy ones. i’m not sure if the reason behind that is the inability to develop an improved taste for better films, or there’s simply very few sensible writers out there. i doubt it’s the latter.

the movie Ploning looks very promising. i heard it’s dante nico garcia’s first time to direct this big a film, and actress judy ann santos believed in the film so much, she even co-produced it. well, ok, i’m not a judy ann santos fan, but i have to admit that she is wise enough to know where to invest her career in. you can visit the official site here. anything that would improve our movie industry is worth supporting, no?

david cook is the music of the night

i’ve been religiously following american idol for weeks now, and my bet is that david cook will make it in the final 3. or make that 2, the other one being the all-time favorite, david archuleta. this will be a challenging week because not only will they be singing broadway songs, they’re andrew lloyd weber’s.

jason castro made a poor choice by picking memory, i think he’s better off singing all i ask of you or something. carly smithson was lucky she had good advice by being given jesus christ superstar. it wasn’t super spectacular but i’m pretty sure this is a lot better than making her go with her first song choice.

so, yeah. here’s david cook’s music of the night. i hope he makes it to the finals! :)

repertory’s tuesdays with morrie

i wasn’t really planning on watching it because, aside from the fact that i’ve read the book and got the juice, i thought it would be a boring dialog between the two characters. it turned out great and meaningful, especially for those who have never read the book. if you’re planning to watch the play, bring tissue. :)

you just gotta love the verbal duel between meryl streep and tom cruise, politically correct vocabulary can be so manipulative and.. wrong. the plot is very thick and thought-provoking, obviously hinting it’s against the almost-meaningless hullabaloo born from the mistakes of selfish politicians and the greedy media. you don’t have to be american to be able to relate to this film. i’m pretty sure you’ll get what i mean after you watch this. human nature, after all, is universal.

dumbledore is gay

before you poke me to death with your makeshift wands, i want to make it clear that it was rowling who said that. she casually reveals to readers about dumbledore’s sexuality when asked if he has ever loved somebody. here’s an excerpt of the news (if you can call it that):

In front of a full house of hardcore Potter fans at Carnegie Hall in New York, Rowling, sitting on the stage on a red velvet and carved wood throne, read from her seventh and final book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” then took questions. One fan asked whether Albus Dumbledore, the head of the famed Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, had ever loved anyone. Rowling smiled. “Dumbledore is gay, actually,” replied Rowling as the audience errupted in surprise. She added that, in her mind, Dumbledore had an unrequited love affair with Gellert Grindelwald, Voldemort’s predecessor who appears in the seventh book. After several minutes of prolonged shouting and clapping from astonshed fans, Rowling added. “I would have told you earlier if I knew it would make you so happy.”

after 2 years since fox pulled them off the air, futurama’s finally back! here’s an excerpt from www.tvsquad.com:

Futurama is back, and now we know in what form. The show will return on November 27th as a full-length high-def film sold on DVD. It will be followed by three additional films, and each film will be divided into four episodes each to be aired on Comedy Central. So, that’s 4 DVD movies or 16 new episodes depending on how you look at it.

i’m glad the show’s signed up to make new season episodes for comedy central. yay!!
